I’m Elan, the photographer behind Talus Studio — I started behind the camera simply trying to capture my own kids’ adventures before they grew up too fast. What began as a personal project expanded to friends, families, and a growing circle of word-of-mouth clients. I travel light with a minimal setup, because great photos aren’t about gear — they’re about connection, trust, and capturing the real you. I am self-taught with my professors being the library and trial-and-error. Portrait photography is a great way for me to destress from a challenging 9-5, have a creative outlet, and make new friends. When not behind the camera (or at my day job), you can find me running around Thornton, at various sports activities, traveling, or painting.

E-mail me at hellotalus@gmail.com, and we’ll find a date, time, and location that works for you.

Where do sessions take place?

All sessions are on location. I’m happy to suggest spots based on the look you’re going for, or we can use a place that’s meaningful to your family.

What time of day is best for photos?

The best light is typically early morning or the hour before sunset. I’ll guide you toward a time that gives you the best possible results.

What should we wear?

Keep it simple and coordinated rather than matching. Neutrals, soft colors, and minimal patterns tend to photograph best. I’m always happy to weigh in if you want a second opinion.

What if my kids don’t cooperate?

They won’t—and that’s completely normal. I don’t expect kids to sit still or pose perfectly. The goal is to capture real moments, personality, and connection. Some of the best images come from the in-between moments.

Do you pose us, or is it candid?

A mix of both. I’ll give light direction when needed, but most of the session is relaxed and natural so your photos feel like you. If you have a vision board or ideas, I'm happy to take those - or you can leave it up to me if you like my style!

How will I receive my photos?

You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can view, download, and purchase images. If you order prints through me, you'll receive them within two weeks of order.

What happens if the weather is bad or someone gets sick?

If the weather doesn’t cooperate or someone wakes up with a stomach bug, we’ll reschedule. No stress.

Do you travel?

Yes, I photograph sessions throughout the Denver area and nearby locations. If you have something specific in mind, feel free to ask.

Will you use our photos for your website or social media?

I may use images for portfolio or promotional purposes, but you can always opt out—just let me know.

Do you offer refunds?

Not usually.
